Egg Temperas

This work is inspired by my love for these people and my desire to create intimate, personal homes for each of their “icons”. They  represent both my specific relationship with them and their personalities. I pulled from my love of Byzantine iconography and woodcarving. I put love and care into each step of the process and made them as personalized and intimate as possible: I designed, carved, sanded and stained the wooden frames, mixed traditional rabbit skin glue gesso, applied gold leaf, and mixed and layered the egg tempera pigments.
